So, I have simply been in awe of the colors that the trees are turning here.Everywhere you walk or drive there are beautiful splashes of autumn colors. Red, oranges, yellows ... Some in clumps all together, others standing alone in a sea of green pine. Oh, the beauty of fall! I don't know why, but this year the colors seem more vibrant than ever before. Well, depending on your perspective. What do I mean?
Well, I wear sunglasses year round. All the time, every day, rain or shine. I suffer from migraines, and I find sometimes i need some protection from the sun even on partly cloudy days. Plus when up on my head they work better than any headband to hold my hair out of my eyes. Practicality you know.
Anyway, I have noticed that when I see a particular beautiful or vibrant tree, I will pull out my phone to take a picture of it. Since I can see my screen better without my sunglasses, I usually remove them. Only to find that the tree, while still beautiful, is not exactly the same color that it was when looking though my lenses. The color of the filter, and thing that protects my eyes, also causes the colors to be a little bit off. (I have noticed this with rainbows and the ocean as well)
Today, I was walking about taking pictures of some of the trees on the grounds of my church, and I noticed that depending on where I was standing, or where the sun was positioned in the sky, the tree took on a different look. Far away or close up, direct bright sun or dappled through the branches of the tree. The appearance of the tree was just slightly different, depending on my position and perspective and of course my filter.
I am sure there is a lesson in there somewhere, some spiritual or life application that could be made on how we see things, events or others. On how we perceive our world depending on our perspective, position, or filter that we see things through. And how it is important to remember that not everyone sees things exactly as we do, and to try to see things through their particular filter sometimes.
But really, as I have looked around at the trees and their dazzling colors, and contemplated the natural world in which we live. It has mostly made me stop and pause and breath deeply and utter thanksgiving, to the creator of the universe, that he saw fit to not just give us a place to live, but one filled with beauty not matter what season we are in. And I suppose there are lessons we can learn from that as well.
