Give us this day our daily bread~or~Wait for iiiiiiiit
"....but now, every time mom says there is a bill due its like 'wait for itttttttt...and boom there it is'. Living like this is much more exciting than when dad had a regular paycheck coming every week." ...
I heard this part of a conversation between my two sons this afternoon. And I would say it pretty well sums up our current status in life. We are indeed in a "what for iiiiiiiit" time of life. (for those who do not watch the tv show Psych, the phrase "wait for it" is something that the main character Shawn says when waiting for the big reveal or an important clue to happen while solving a case) In our case, it is a weekly sometimes daily state of being.
Most of us, if we have had any church upbringing at all, know at least portions of The Lord's Prayer. You know the one: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name .... That one, the one we memorized in Sunday School or Vacation Bible School. A prayer that was given as an example to the disciple by Jesus, on how to pray. And yet often, we simply repeat it, verbatim and forget to actually believe and live by what we are saying.
The phrase "and give us this day, our daily bread" has new meaning to our family. You see, my husband is unemployed, this time with no unemployment to draw on. The story of how this came about is something I will share another time, but suffice it to say, we are on a faith journey. One that requires daily dependance on the Father above to provide for our every need. Now, we have said in the past that we depend on Him, and we have, but this has taken our faith to a whole new level. We are totally dependent on whatever repair work He brings our way to cover our bills each week. And then when he provides we must spend it wisely and carefully. And so far, He has provided exactly what we need, exactly when we needed it.
So, when my son said its like "wait for iiiiiiit" ... he was not kidding! And as we are waiting, He is providing.. We have tested him and seen that he is in fact faithful. And I must admit, it certainly is an exciting way to live!
